Sugar Flower Workshop - September 4, 5, 6 - 2025
Dahlia Dream Immersion
Join Natasja for a 3 day Sweet Dahlia Dream Immersion in her hometown Amsterdam, the Netherlands and create sugar flowers in her kitchen studio located in a historical 18th Century Canal House. Share the love of flowers and step into the beauty and history of Holland.
Be inspired on your creative journey with this ultimate floral workshop, and immerse yourself in the sweetness of sugar flowers. We will admire Dutch floral still lives and tour flower fields at peak dahlia season. In addition explore botanical appearance, dive deep in coloring method and recreate Natasja’s trademark, lifelike sugar flowers. Discussion of tools and materials beyond the class subject will serve for infinite possibilities on future creative paths.
Sugar flowers are beautiful on cakes but become everlasting floral art treasures when displayed on their own. Stepping into the tradition of the old Dutch masters style, Natasja will also demonstrate how to arrange these sweet blooms with fresh flowers no matter the seasons, for sustainable arrangements.

Class Subject
Sugar dahlias and blossoms.
This course is designed for both beginners and seasoned creatives.
- Included in the 3-day Dahlia Dream Immersion:
Day 1
- Amsterdam (my kitchen studio)
Introduction and explanation of sugar paste and how to create sugar flowers. - Commencement of creating sugar flowers.
- The Hague (chauffeur driven, just 65 kilometers from Amsterdam) Guided tour Mauritshuis Museum, world renowned for their floral still lives and Vermeer’s girl with the pearl earring.
- Followed by: Visit the dreamy dahlia fields at the world-famous Dutch flower fields near The Hague
Day 2
- Amsterdam
- A full day of sugar flower creation
- Private Boat tour with drinks and canapés on the famous canals of Amsterdam
Day 3
- Amsterdam
- Early start for Saturday’s Market meet-up.
- Finishing of Sugar Flowers.
- Demonstration of arrangement with sugar and fresh flowers in the tradition of the Dutch Masters’s still lifestyle.
- How to promote and capture your work for your portfolio
- Farewell Dinner
Included
- The use of materials for the duration of the class.
- Daily lunch and the farewell dinner on the workshop’s final day.
- A culinary feast, this 3-day Floral immersion workshop will also offer a tasting of all of Natasja’s favorite Dutch delicacies. Where flowers and food join, get a taste of Dutch culture.
- Throughout the workshop, there will be discussions on creativity and commercial success.
- Attendees will go home with a collection of sugar flowers.
- These eternal floral objects will be wrapped for return flights. Hand luggage only.

Private Teaching Sugarflower Masterclass
If you would like to elevate your sugarflowers and cake design or if you are a florist or creative who would love to know how to approach and recreate flowers in sugar, I am happy to announce you can book a private workshop with me from my kitchen in Amsterdam.
A Private Teaching Sugarflower Masterclass (maximum of two persons) for sugar flowers starts at € 1900,- for the day (9.30-18.00, lunch included and served) but can also be booked for a half day, starting at € 950,- (9.30-13.30)
Materials and equipment for the duration of the workshop are included. Details, terms and conditions can be provided upon request.
